SMILE MAKEOVERS : TRANSFORMING YOUR APPEARANCE WITH COSMETIC DENTISTRY

A smile is often the first thing people notice about someone, and it can have a significant impact on a person’s self-confidence and overall appearance. Cosmetic dentistry offers a range of treatments and procedures that can transform a person’s smile and improve their overall appearance. Here’s a look at some of the ways that a smile makeover can transform your appearance.

  1. Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic dental treatment that can brighten and whiten teeth that are stained or discolored. This simple procedure can significantly improve the appearance of a smile and make it look healthier and more youthful.

  1. Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are thin shells that are placed over the front of the teeth to improve their appearance. Veneers can be used to correct a variety of dental issues, including discoloration, chips, and gaps between teeth. They can also be used to make teeth appear longer or wider.

  1. Dental Implants

Dental implants are a permanent solution for missing teeth. They consist of a titanium post that is surgically implanted into the jawbone and then topped with a crown or bridge. Dental implants can significantly improve the appearance of a smile by filling in gaps left by missing teeth and restoring the fullness of the mouth.

  1. Gum Contouring

Gum contouring is a procedure that can be used to correct a “gummy” smile or to create a more even gum line. This treatment involves reshaping the gum tissue to improve the appearance of the teeth and gums.

  1. Invisalign

Invisalign is an alternative to traditional braces that uses clear aligners to straighten teeth. This treatment can be used to correct a variety of dental issues, including crooked or misaligned teeth, and can significantly improve the appearance of a smile.

If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your smile, consider consulting with a cosmetic dentist to explore your options for a smile makeover. SMILE BRIGHTER : THE BENEFITS OF STARTING ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT EARLY

Orthodontic treatment, which involves the correction of dental and facial irregularities, is often associated with teenagers wearing braces. However, orthodontic intervention can be beneficial for children as young as seven years old. Early orthodontic intervention, also known as interceptive orthodontics, involves identifying and treating orthodontic problems in young children before they become more complicated.

Some of the benefits of early orthodontic intervention:

  1. Preventing more severe problems: Early orthodontic intervention can help prevent more severe dental and orthodontic problems from developing. By identifying and treating issues such as crossbites, overbites, underbites, and crowded teeth, orthodontists can prevent these problems from worsening and requiring more extensive treatment in the future.
  2. Improving facial symmetry and aesthetics: Interceptive orthodontics can also help improve facial symmetry and aesthetics. By correcting issues with the alignment of the jaw and teeth, orthodontists can create a more balanced and harmonious appearance, which can boost a child’s self-esteem.
  3. Improving oral health: Early orthodontic intervention can improve oral health by making it easier to clean and maintain the teeth. Misaligned teeth can make it difficult to clean all surfaces of the teeth, leading to a higher risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and other oral health problems. By correcting these issues early on, children can enjoy better oral health throughout their lives.
  4. Shorter treatment time: Early orthodontic intervention can also lead to shorter overall treatment time. By addressing issues before they become more severe, orthodontists can often use less invasive and more efficient treatment methods, which can shorten the duration of treatment.
  5. Avoiding extractions or surgery: In some cases, early orthodontic intervention can prevent the need for extractions or surgery in the future. By addressing issues with the jaw and teeth early on, orthodontists can help children avoid more invasive and complicated procedures later in life.

If you have concerns about your child’s dental or orthodontic development, it is a good idea to consult with an orthodontist to see if early intervention may be necessary.

Early orthodontic care can address potential issues before they become more complex, ensuring your child’s smile is healthy and well-aligned. Trust Dr. Nikita Agarwal and the expert team at Studio Dentale to provide personalized, effective care for your child’s dental needs. Book your consultation today!

GETTING YOUR SMILE SUMMER READY

Hats, sunscreen, cool juices. Yes! You guessed it right.

Summer is approaching fast! Everyone is trying to live a healthy lifestyle to get summer ready. But is your smile summer ready?

Summer can be taxing and has effects on your teeth and oral health. But you can take some simple steps to take care and prevent problems.

How does summer affect your smile?

Dehydration

Dehydration is very common during summers. Lower water levels affect the salivary flow. Less saliva gives way to dry mouth, more cavities. Cracked lips are one of the painful side effects of the summer season. Dry mouth also causes bad breath.

Summer drinks

The temperature is hot and you want to grab a fizzy summer drink! But think before you do that. These drinks have lots of sugar and sugar is definitely not good for your teeth. The acidic drinks also harm the enamel surface of teeth.

Heat

Underlying dental problems become more evident during summer because of heat. The untreated dental problems like infection can cause pain.

Summer vacation

Kids are going to be home and wanting to eat snacks throughout the day. Junk food, sweets are the first thing kids are going to want. But they are going to only cause more cavities.

Tips to make your smile summer ready

  1. Keep yourself hydrated  by drinking lots of water
  2. Opt for sugar free drinks
  3. Fruit infused water is better to beat summer heat than fizzy drinks or cold drinks.
  4. Have a healthy diet even during summers.
  5. Have more watery fruits as snacks
  6. Present fruits in an interesting shape so that kids will want to eat them instead of junk food

It is always better to be summer ready for your teeth so that you can enjoy your summers. Whether it’s a professional cleaning, teeth whitening, or addressing dental concerns, preparing your teeth for summer helps you enjoy the season with confidence and ease. Visit Studio Dentale and let us help you shine brighter this summer with a radiant, healthy smile!

Progress is impossible without change. And Laser dentistry has become a pivot of the everyday evolving field of modern dentistry.

What is Laser Dentistry?

Laser dentistry is the use of laser technology to treat, correct and heal soft and hard tissues of the mouth. LASER stands for ‘Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation’. This is nothing but the use of light energy in a focused narrow beam. This beam allows us to remove or shape the tissue.

Lasers are of 2 types:

Hard Tissue Laser

Soft Tissue Laser

Selfies have been around for quite a while now. Yet selfies have not lost their charm. In today’s world of Instagram and Facebook, selfies have proved to be a boon for dental health.

Selfies are today’s mirrors which show you if you are taking care of your dental health or not. When you are not happy with your smile in your selfies, you tend to look after your dental health more carefully.

Some tips for you want to take advantage of selfies for better dental health.

Zoom Your Selfies

Next time before you post a selfie on social media, zoom it! Are you happy with your smile? If not, it is time to revisit your dental hygiene habits.

If you see food stuck in your teeth in a selfie, that means even the person you meet is able to see it. This just shows that even though you may be brushing twice daily, you are not brushing properly.

Video record while brushing

The best way to ensure whether you are brushing properly or not is to video record yourself. When you record you will know if you are leaving out any specific area while brushing. 101 GUIDE TO TOOTHBRUSHES

Good oral health, good general health. Good oral hygiene affects our overall health.

Brushing twice daily forms the foundation of good oral health. And a toothbrush is the most important aspect of brushing your teeth.

The tools make the man and trade. In brushing, our toothbrush is our tool and knowing which toothbrush to use when is equally important.

Toothbrush for Sensitivity teeth, braces or for your toddler. This is your ultimate guide for toothbrush

Toothbrushes for everyone

Baby Gumbrush –

Even before your baby has any tooth, use a gum brush to clean the gums. This is to be done after every feeding. It helps your kid to get used to the sensation of brushing.

Baby brush –

Once your kid has even 1 tooth, start cleaning with a baby fingerbrush. It has soft bristles and is worn on your finger. No toothpaste is to be used while brushing

Toddler brush –

Nowadays, a wide range of toothbrushes are available. Buy a toothbrush with soft bristles according to the age group. Take your kid to choose the toothbrush so as to get him/her excited about brushing.

Kids brush –

Once your kid grows out of toddler stage, buy a slimmer handle soft bristles toothbrush. When kids grow up they tend to avoid brushing at night. But if the toothbrush is of their choice, they are more eager to brush.

Teenagers and Adults –

Many people think that with age we need to increase the hardness of the toothbrush. But this is absolutely NOT true! Soft bristle toothbrush goes a long way. Medium or hard bristles toothbrush wear of tooth structure and cause more harm.

Orthodontic brush –

A special orthodontic brush is available for people with braces. It is designed to accommodate the wires and brackets and reach the tooth surfaces.

Sensitive brush –

Sensitive teeth call for an extra soft bristle toothbrush. They provide extra softness while brushing.

Whether you opt for a manual or electric toothbrush, the right bristles, size, and handle can make a significant difference in your brushing routine. A proper toothbrush helps prevent cavities, gum disease, and tooth sensitivity, setting the foundation for a lifetime of smiles. Visit us at Studio Dentale for expert advice on choosing the perfect toothbrush for your oral care needs!

DEBUNKING COMMON ROOT CANAL TREATMENT MYTHS

Root canal treatment is a common procedure for treating the bacterial infection of the tooth by removal of infected pulp tissue.

Some of the common causes when you may need a root canal treatment are :

  1. Dental cavity infecting the pulp tissue
  2. Fractured tooth
  3. Cracked tooth
  4. Infection due to trauma

If you have any fear of root canal treatment, read on to help calm your nerves

Myth No. 1

Root canal treatment is needed only when there is dental pain.

Dental pain is experienced during the course of dental infection. A tooth may stop hurting or may not hurt at all but may need root canal treatment. Dental pain does not always mean the need for root canal treatment. At times, a tooth may pain due to other reasons like food being lodged in between teeth or gums. At times, a tooth with an advanced cavity may not give you pain but will require root canal treatment.

Myth No. 2

Root canal treatment is painful

With advances in the dental field, root canal treatment has become one of the most routine painless procedure. The treatment is done under local anesthesia which ensures that you are comfortable and don’t experience any pain. The root canal techniques have evolved tremendously over the recent years. This allows the dentist to complete the root canal quicker and with no pain.

Myth No. 3

Extraction is better than root canal treatment

It may sound good to get rid of the painful tooth once and for all. But the biggest advantage of root canal treatment is that the natural tooth is saved. Any tooth replacement falls short to a natural tooth. The recovery time after root canal treatment is much shorter and comfortable than extraction. After extraction, the removed tooth needs to be replaced to avoid further complications

Myth No. 4

Root canal treatment causes illness

This myth was started way long back when proper techniques were not available. Don’t believe outdated information and trust your dentist. With the techniques available today there is no scientific correlation of root canal treatment and illnesses.

Trust the right source of information—your dentist—and get the required treatment on time to avoid the unpleasant experience of dental pain. Don’t let misconceptions prevent you from seeking the care you need. If you’re experiencing tooth pain, visit us today at Studio Dentale and discover how a root canal can restore your dental health and comfort!

INVISALIGN OR BRACES? WHAT TO CHOOSE?

Straight perfectly lined teeth is a dream of many. Young or not, a perfect smile is an achievable dream with Invisalign or braces. But what to choose? Invisalign or braces?

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign are the clear aligners which apply regular forces on teeth to bring them in the desired position. Even before the treatment starts, the number of aligners and the outcome of the treatment is decided. These aligners are to be changed after a specific number of days. Over the course of the treatment, these aligners guid the teeth to come in the correct position.

Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign offers benefits like :

  1. Adults can use invisalign for orthodontic correction
  2. Invisible – Aligners are practically invisible
  3. Removable – Aligners are to be removed during eating and can be removed for a short duration if you have any important meeting or a gathering.
  4. No dietary restrictions – As the aligners can be removed, there are no dietary restrictions
  5. Predictable results – You can view the outcome of your treatment even before the treatment begins.

How does Invisalign work?

There are a set number of aligners which are given for you to wear as advised. These aligners are designed so as to apply continuous light forces on the tooth surface. These forces are comfortable and guid the teeth in the correct position.

What are Braces?

Orthodontic treatment with braces consists of small brackets stuck to the teeth surfaces and a wire connecting them to each other. Braces may be metallic or ceramic. Ceramic braces have the benefit of the brackets being tooth colored.

Benefits of Braces

Braces provide benefits like  :

  1. Both minor and complex cases can be treated with braces
  2. Apt for all age groups – even young children can be treated with braces
  3. No staining of brackets – drinks like juices, wine does not stain the wire or brackets
  4. The outcome of the treatment is dependent on the dentist and not the patient – as they are not removable, patient compliance is not a factor
  5. Braces are more cost friendly

How do Braces work?

Brackets are placed on the teeth surfaces and a wire is passed through them. Adjustments are made by the orthodontist every month. These adjustments apply forces and bring about the change in position of teeth.

When it comes to straightening your teeth, the choice between Invisalign and traditional braces can often feel like a dilemma. At Studio Dentale, the best dental clinic in Kathmandu, Dr. Nikita Agarwal is here to guide you through the decision-making process.

Invisalign offers a discreet, comfortable, and removable option, while traditional braces are effective for more complex dental issues. Knowing the pros and cons of each will help you choose the best treatment for your needs and lifestyle. Visit us today to discuss your options and achieve the smile you’ve always dreamed of!

SLEEP APNEA – THE UNKNOWN ENEMY

You think you are sleeping peacefully but unknowingly wake up in the middle of the night due to snoring.

Is this scenario familiar? If yes, you may be suffering from sleep apnea.

Everyone of us has experienced snoring when we are too tired.

But it is important to know if it is just snoring or sleep apnea?

Sleep apnea is when you wake up from sleep because you have stopped breathing momentarily.

Sleep apnea is because of 2 reasons:

  1. Obstructive Sleep Apnea –

Obstructions like falling back of the soft palate leads to obstructive sleep apnea.

  1. Central Sleep Apnea –

The brain may be facing issues while sending signals to breathing muscles causing sleep apnea. There is no evident obstruction present. Central sleep apnea is usually associated with systemic issues like brain tumor, stroke, heart failure.

Sleep apnea is more prevalent in :

  1. Gender – Men
  2. Age – over 40 years
  3. Obstruction – deviated septum or airway obstruction
  4. Anyone who is overweight
  5. Large tonsils – someone with large tonsils

Sleep apnea may present with

  1. Waking up startled in between sleep
  2. Sleep is restless
  3. Snoring loudly
  4. Waking up tired even after sleeping for a long time
  5. Difficulty in breathing

Untreated sleep apnea may lead to serious issues like heart problems, stroke, depression, migraine and so on.

It is advisable to diagnose and treat sleep apnea sooner than later. Treatment includes :

  1. Sleeping position – sometimes a change in the sleeping position helps prevent sleep apnea episodes. Soft palate tends to fall back when one sleeps on the back. Try sleeping on the side to avoid sleep apnea
  2. Dental appliance – mild to moderate cases of sleep apnea can be treated with an oral appliance to correct the jaw position.
  3. Surgery – severe cases of sleep apnea may need surgical intervention when other treatment options have proved to be unsuccessful. Simple surgery like deviated septum can treat sleep apnea.

NEW YEAR, NEW HABITS, NEW SMILE

Breaking old habits and forming new ones always takes time, but it is definitely worth the effort in the end. 2023 has begun with new opportunities and chances.

In this new year, seize new opportunities to form some new dental care habits for a new healthy smile.

Habit No. 1

BRUSHING

Irrespective of the situation, put it in our daily routine to brush your teeth daily twice using soft bristled toothbrush and toothpaste. Brushing your teeth will help remove all the food particles deposited on teeth and stuck in between your teeth. These food materials, if kept as it is, increases chances of cavities and gum diseases.

Habit No. 2

FLOSSING

Many people do have the habit of brushing but not many floss. Floss is Boss! If you don’t floss, you tend to leave out 35% of tooth surfaces unclean. The habit of daily flossing makes or breaks your dental hygiene.

Habit No. 3.

HEALTHY DIET

Fresh fruits, salads, and fibrous vegetables provide roughage and remove food deposits and plaque from teeth surfaces. Sticky sweet substances give way to cavities. Choose a healthier version for your sweet tooth. Choose fruit infused water instead of soda, fruits instead of chocolates. Drinking water helps keep cavities at bay.

Habit No. 4

CHANGE OF TOOTHBRUSH

Toothbrush is to be used for a period of 3 months. It is to be changed every 3 months and after an episode of flu. If your brush deteriorates before 3 months that is an indication that your brushing technique is incorrect.

Habit No. 5

BRUSHING METHOD

Not just brushing but brushing technique is vital for healthy teeth and gums. Proper brushing technique can be demonstrated by your dentist at your next dental visit.

Habit No. 6
