Losing a tooth is everyone’s nightmare. But sometimes, extraction / removal of a tooth is the only option left.

At times, a tooth is severely damaged due to decay, trauma or gum disease that it is beyond repair. In such cases, we are left with no option but advice to remove the offending tooth. In olden times, whenever one experienced pain, removal of tooth was the only option available. But it’s not the case today. We try to save your tooth with all possible treatment options. But if it is beyond salvageable we expertly remove the tooth.
Sometimes, a tooth needs to be removed for the treatment of braces.

Extraction of teeth is the painless permanent removal of tooth or teeth.
Reasons when one might need extraction

  • Severely decayed tooth which is irreparable
  • Fractured tooth with vertical fracture
  • Gum diseases
  • For orthodontic purposes in case of less space available
  • Wisdom tooth removal
  • Removal of impacted teeth – an impacted teeth may pose a threat to health if it gets infected
  • Removal of over-retained teeth

As it is a painless procedure you need not worry but have to take care as instructed by us.
It is necessary for you to inform us about any medications that you are taking, any allergies that you might be having, any other systemic issues you might be suffering from. It is important for us to know the above before starting the procedure.

  • 1. When is extraction of teeth recommended?

    • Severely decayed tooth which is irreparable

  • 2. Is it painful?

    Before the procedure of removal of tooth you will be given anesthesia which makes it completely painless procedure.

  • 3. How much time is required for my gums to heal?

    Initial healing of gums takes place within a week but it requires 3 weeks for the gums to heal completely. The underlying bone requires 2-3 months to heal completely.

  • 4. Do I need to replace my missing tooth/ teeth?

    Replacement of the teeth after its removal is advised. It is necessary to replace the tooth to carry on the function of chewing without any hindrance.

  • 4. What happens if I don’t replace them?

    If you don’t replace the missing teeth 

    • Bone will resorb substantially giving you an older appearance
    • Hindrance in speech – front teeth are important while talking
    • Insufficient chewing forces – the act of chewing is sub par as there careless teeth to work
    • Load on other remaining teeth – As there is no replacement of missing teeth, the remaining teeth have to bear the extra load while eating. This makes the remaining teeth weaker and prone to fracture.
    • Drifting of neighboring teeth in the space – Teeth tend to shift and occupy in the now available space. This causes issue with biting as the forces are unevenly distributed.

Following care needs to be taken after removal of teeth

  • Place ice pack from outside on the side of teeth removal
  • Do not spit, rinse, gargle for 24 hours
  • You are advised to eat cold, semi solid or liquid food for that day.
  • Avoid hot or hard food for 24 hours.
  • Take medicines as prescribed by the dentist.
  • Visit for your follow up dental visit as scheduled by the dentist
  • EXTRACTION: SIMPLE: TYPE I = NPR 4000
  • EXTRACTION: SIMPLE: TYPE II = NPR 5000
  • EXTRACTION: SIMPLE: TYPE III = NPR 6000
