Steps involved in Gum contouring

- Gum surgery is a one sitting procedure in which local anaesthesia will be delivered to the area by our dentist to numb the area.
- A soft tissue blade or laser will then be used to remove extra tissue or to redesign the gums into place.
- In case there is not enough tissue to add from the gums,our specialist will remove tissues from another part of your mouth to restructure the smile.
1. Is gum contouring a painful procedure?
Before beginning the procedure you will be delivered a local anaesthetic by our dental specialist to numb the areas of gums that will be excised. There can be slight discomfort after the procedure but it will be covered by pain killer medicines suggested by our doctor. A cold compress will help with the recovery and swelling if any.
2. What is the recovery time from gum surgery?
Recovery time depends on the extent of the procedure but on average healing time can range between a few days to 2 weeks. There can be tenderness and sensitivity at first which will gradually subside. Avoid eating hard food or spicy food and stick to simple food items which are easy to eat.

4. When should one get Contouring?
